New Jersey 2008-2009 AB 880 / SB 2400 – New Jersey Reading Disabilities Task Force
Establishes New Jersey Reading Disabilities Task Force, providing:
1. The Legislature finds and declares that:
a. Approximately 85% of all children who receive special education services have basic deficits in language and reading; and
Texas 2009 HB 461 – Regulation of dyslexia practitioners
Relating to the regulation of dyslexia practitioners and therapists; providing penalties.
Establishes 2-tier voluntary licensing system, requiring specific training and examination in multi-sensory structured language education.
Washington 2009-2010 SB 6016 – Funds Pilot Projects
Declares that, since 2005, the legislature has provided funding for five pilot projects to implement research-based, multisensory literacy intervention for students with dyslexia. Finds that the students receiving intervention support through the dyslexia pilot projects have made substantial and steady academic gains.
