Requires the President’s annual budget request to Congress each year to include a line item for the Research in Disabilities Education program of the National Science Foundation and to require the National Science Foundation to conduct research on dyslexia.

Specifies that the National Science Foundation shall devote not less than $5,000,000 to research into specific learning disabilities, which shall include not less than $2,500,000 for research on the science of dyslexia, for each of fiscal years 2017 through 2021, subject to the availability of appropriations.

  1. Definitely cause for celebration. Hopefully the research that comes out of it will convince states like Nebraska to put programs in place that specifically address dyslexia instead of lumping it under SLD. Until then, I feel sorry for all the kids who will continue to fall behind.

  2. i would like to get a bill passed that i keep my job after 15 years because i have dyslexia and have to many learning disablitys i i couldnt get my ged try for years to get it still was at 3 grade just lost my job thanks to the state liceimg would love to have input on a law
