  1. California : Senate Bill 114 (Education Omnibus Trailer Bill) on K-2 Screening for Reading Difficulties, including Risk of Dyslexia. Will require testing in the 2025-26 school year. Screening instruments are selected in 2024.

  2. Minnesota has some new laws!
    MN passed the Dyslexia Specialist bill in 2017 - Statute 120B.122

    In 2016, a statute was amended to state that districts must report their efforts to screen and identify students with dyslexia {120b.12, Subd. 2. (1)} and must be provided alternative instruction that is multisensory, systematic, sequential, cumulative, and explicit. https://www.revisor.mn.gov/statutes/?id=120B.12

    New York now has legislations that are now both in the Senate and Assembly.
    A04330A / S05439
    Requires the certification or training of teachers, administrators, and instructors in area of dyslexia and related disorders. This legislation will also institute” dyslexia” as a single category to be listed on Independent Educational Programs. This will also encourage early screening and make sure that educators have the tools to help students with dyslexia and all children who struggle to read.

    AN ACT to establish a pilot program to provide early screening and intervention services for children with risk factors for dyslexia.
