Task Force to Study the Implementation of a Dyslexia Education Program 3 – Membership, Duties, and Extension.
Amends the School Code. Sets forth the definition of dyslexia that the State Board of Education must incorporate in both general education and special education (instead of requiring the State Board of Education to adopt rules that incorporate an international definition of dyslexia). Effective immediately.
An Act Concerning Dyslexia. To require any person applying for a remedial reading, remedial language arts or reading consultant endorsement to have completed a course that includes instruction on dyslexia.
Requires the President’s annual budget request to Congress each year to include a line item for the Research in Disabilities Education program of the National Science Foundation and to require the National Science Foundation to conduct research on dyslexia.
An Act To Ensure That Schoolchildren with Dyslexia Receive the Assistance Needed.
This measure requires one or more local units of government to expand or modify activities so as to necessitate additional expenditures from local revenues but does not provide funding for at least 90% of those expenditures.
Requires the Superintendent of Public Instruction to develop program guidelines for dyslexia to be used to assist regular education teachers, special education teachers, and parents to identify and assess pupils with dyslexia, and to plan, provide, evaluate, and improve educational services, as defined, to pupils with dyslexia.
